Title: It's the way
Characters: England, Spain
Rating: PG
He honestly can't stand the way Spain manages to make him feel. Even with the simplest of smiles (especially, especially the sad one he wears when he whispers he loves him) England finds himself more and more enamoured with his enemy.
He hates him for it.
It's the way Spain smiles and laughs, steps closer and caresses his cheek.
It's the way Spain kisses him tenderly, brings back the memories of Catherine's and Arthur's wedding, the memories of a painful death and of a second wedding.
It's the way the knife digs against his side and Spain whispers sweet nothings (and nothings they were), tells him he hates him and just watches those shamed green eyes flinch close.
It's the way Spain bandages the wounds he causes, kisses them "to make them feel better", holds England close with a silly, soft smile.
It's the way Spain kisses him good bye (for now) and leaves the poor, brooding island to his lonesome, not without a few cuts himself.
England hates it.
Notes:
Catherine's and Arthur's marriage - Henry VIII's brother was Arthur, Prince of Wales. He married Catherine of Aragorn before Henry.
second marriage - When he died, Henry wasforced persuaded to marry Catherine and became king that way. He used this against her to try and annul their marriage, claiming it was "incestuous".
