He always hated being in vehicles alone.

It was always so silent without someone there.

Sometimes, he thought he could even hear voices in the quiet hum of silence, words that murmured and entranced him.

At these times, Arthur would ball up and close his eyes and ears, murmurs prayers and hold his crucifix to protect him and Hail Mary, glory she is, protect thy follower faithful. When he was old enough to open the door by himself, he would throw it open and smack whoever stood on the other side.

One day, this unfortunate person was one (1) Antonio Fernandez Carriedo, a friend of Francis Bonnefoy’s, who had come seeking the little Arthur Kirkland that Bonnefoy had told him lavishly of, and had been assaulted between the legs by one (1) offending car door.

It wasn’t a very happy day, needless to say.
