“Rain is the sky crying.”

“Oh. Why’s she crying?”

“Who knows?”

Antonio pulls the young Arthur close and smiles up at the overcast sky, squeezes the seven year old tighter and feeling for the sun in the sky.

“Can we help her stop?”

“It’s natural. Everybody cries, Arturo. You most of all.”

The golden-headed boy frowns at the tease and turns around in the eleven year old's arms, beating his chest lightly with small, closed fists.

“I do not cry that much!”

“Crybaby, crybaby!”

Arthur scowls and rubs his eyes with the heels of his hands, stopping when Antonio tilts his head up and presses a kiss to the side of his mouth.

“That's okay,” (his voice is a murmur against his cheek and it alights a flighty, feathery feeling in his stomach) “I like crybabies.”
