Title: Impressive Resistance
Characters: Belgium, Prussia
Rating: PG
287 words.
He was sent out on the front line. No, it didn't matter that he hadn't wanted this war in the first place. He'd been sent anyways.
Gripping a cigarette in his teeth, he scowls at the gun in his hands. What ever happened to the sword? When had this become so impersonal? He grips it and waits for the order.
As soon as it's given, he stands and points and grips the trigger-
and doesn't expect to see Belgium standing in the front lines, gripping a semi-automatic (how well prepared they were! He had to be impressed) and a helmet shoved loosely on her head. Covered in mud, she had never looked more fearsome or more wild.
Actually, it was kinda hot.
Someone kicks him for not firing. He ducks into the trenches and scowls, hitting the rookie in the back of the knees with the butt of his gun. Stop that, we're at war! No, you stop - I'll fire when I damn think it's time to. Respect your elders, rookie.
Damn Liège. They were all cursing it by the eleventh day.
Thank god it fell then.
He goes and retrieves her from among the fallen soldiers, yanking her up by her hair and giving her a near pitying look.
"Don't you pity me, Pruisen."
"I won't. You know, you held up damn longer than West thought you would. Kind of a surprise actually."
"My government figured this would happen sometime."
"I'm impressed."
That catches her off guard, and she's only got a few seconds to stomach it when he knocks her out with a knee to the jaw and a toss to the side.
Impressed, but he still had orders to (however unfortunately) follow.
