Lady Mathias kisses him, long and hard, and Luca wonders if it’s because they’re two halves of the same soul or if it’s because she’s in love with Asura. She’s probably the only person he’s met - aside from himself and Chitose, it’d seem - that loves Asura more than him, and he lets himself get pressed against the wall. He resists the urge to open his eyes - she had asked him to keep them closed while they talked, although he doesn’t know why - and tangles his fingers in her hair instead. Anything to make her happy, he decides; anything to get his memories back, as quick as they could manage without anything tipping his power out of control, and, truth be told, he doesn’t mind this kind of method. The closer they get, the more complete he feels, and he wonders if she feels the same; he doesn’t ask her when she draws away, only shakes his head when she asks if that helped at all and apologizes. She doesn’t respond, but touches their foreheads together (and she has to lean down to do it, he feels; she’s the same age as him, or should be, yet she’s so much taller) and sends him from her quarters. The last glimpse he gets of her is the mask and the smile that curls under it as she finishes slipping it over her face.
