Title: sea salt skin
Characters: Luca Milda, Spada Belforma, Iria Animi, Hermana Larmo, Ricardo Soldato, Ange Serena
Rating: G

56/365.

The sea salt tastes good on his skin; Luca licks his hands as he sits on the sand, feeling grainier and grainier as the sun dries the ocean off of him. He watches the rest of the party spend their time jump waves (Hermana's the best at it, seconded by Iria; Ange keeps to the shallows, a hoodie over her figure, and looks at tidepools; Ricardo keeps an eye out for them, just in case; and Spada--)

It comes as a shock to think that he doesn't know where Spada is. He looks around, then shrieks when he feels someone else's tongue on the back of his neck. He slaps a hand over the offended spot and turns around to a grinning Spada, who shoves him with his leg and sits beside him. They sit in silence and watch the beach, and Luca relaxes in the comforting presence of a young man he's proud to call his best friend. After a moment, Spada nudges their shoulders and nods towards the girls, a smirk growing on his lips.

“You been watchin' Iria?” He asks, and Luca shakes his head in response; Spada's smirk disappears, replaced by a frown, and he shoves Luca's shoulder harder. “Why the hell not, man!”

“I don't think she'd appreciate it--” Luca starts, then shuts his mouth at Spada's glower. The latter jerks his thumb towards her and shakes his head, turning his eyes away from Luca's and back to the girls.

“She ain't dressin' like that for Her's sake, man. Women like to be looked at when they're at the beach. Either watch her or go over there and hook up with her. Latter's preferable.”

Luca shakes his head fervently, then hesitantly watches the girls. He catches Iria looking back at him and feels himself burn a bright red; Spada grins and flicks his ear, chuckling when Luca holds it and frowns at him.

“Never noticed that your ears get all red before the rest of you does. I'll be sure to remember that.”

Luca huffs and draws his knees up to his chest, wordlessly keeping his eyes on Iria and waving a little when she sees him watching her again. She blushes – or, at least, he thinks she does; it's hard to tell if it's sunburn or genuine embarrassment – and he grins a little when she determinedly turns back to her game with Hermana. Spada watches him curiously, then stretches and stands, reaching down to yank him up and pull him across the sand.

“Come on, let's make a sandcastle or somethin'. A big one.” He grins at Luca and quirks an eyebrow. “You could even said you made it for just you and Iria. I ain't gonna stop that.”

Luca splutters at that, although his protests largely go unheeded by Spada. Their sandcastle doesn't get very far before it crashes, due to Luca's shoddy workmanship, but it's all in good fun and once the rest of the party notices what they're doing the castle walls get rebuilt and –

well, it certainly isn't the best looking castle, but it's theirs.
