Title: a tame imagination

Sometimes, he pretends he is an adventurer and his house is an unexplored ruin. In the morning, Luca sets out to the parts he's explored before (the living room, the kitchen, his room above them both) and marks any new changes in his explorer's notebook. He avoids the dangerous, booby-trapped caverns (his father's study and his parents' room) and-- well, he's not much of an adventurer if he only sticks to the places he's safe, so he decides to pretend he's a librarian and spends the rest of the day reading books and shelving them.
His mother watches and sighs, leaning against the door and wondering if it was normal for a boy his age to spend so much time being inside instead of out in the sunshine.
