Title: a knight's imagination
Characters: Spada Belforma

Sometimes, he pretends he is a knight and his brothers are the evil denizens he has to defeat. Spada slinks through the hallways and steals into the armory, passing by the spears and taking up a pair of wooden swords Hartman had fashioned for him after he had asked him to. None of his brothers are actually home (the first never is; the second and the third are off on trips; four and five are out on the town; and the sixth is at school) but he pretends they are and he pretends he wins all his battles. Sneaking into their rooms (caves) and slicing through (imaginary) familiars, hiding when maids and butlers go to see what the ruckus is all about and pretending those are commanders, elite army leaders he's not strong enough to defeat yet.
Once he's down cutting down all the enemies he can he rests in his room and pretends he's rescued a princess; he closes his eyes and envisions the two of them running away (along with his trusty squire, Hartman), and when he reaches up to rub his eyes he feels tears. It makes him grimace and turn over in his bed, watch the window, and pretend he's anywhere else in the world.
