Title: roaring shame
Characters: Tristam, Kaeli, Phoebe, Reuben
Rating: G
43/365.
As soon as the battle's ended, the room cleared and the armored skeletons put to rest, Reuben lets out a long, loud laugh. He keeps at it for a bit, shaking and carrying on, until Tristam shoves him and asks him what's so funny. It subsides until Reuben looks at the white-haired mercenary - and starts back up immediately. It's almost infectious; even Kaeli and Phoebe have to hide their amused smiles, although the former's trying harder to do so than the latter. Tristam feels warm to the tips of his hair and he crosses his arms, frowning sullenly.
"Seriously you guys, what's so funny?" He asks, pressing against the cove's wall and studying his party. Reuben starts to say something then waves it off to Kaeli, who struggles to recover her usually calm composure and neutral face; she manages to do so long enough to reply, "Your roar," before sinking into a fit of giggles and passing the responsibility to Phoebe.
Phoebe handles a lot of things well; she's amazing with a hammer, awesome at cheering people up, and she's always the last fighter to go down in a tournament. She isn't so good with handling her cheeky laughter and the responsibility of explanation about why Tristam's roar was funny.
He can probably guess though; it hadn't worked too well against their enemy and it hadn't been anything, well, clever. He hadn't felt ashamed of it while they were fighting, but now with his companions laughing at him --
It's all in good fun, he knows, especially when it saves them against the Zombieking two rooms over, but he keeps his roaring to a minimum and just focuses on attacking and getting himself and their hammer girl pumped.
