Title: romanticism
Characters: Spada Belforma, Luca Milda
Rating: G
32/365.
“Do you like anyone?”
Spada feels his body tense up but he doesn't move an inch, eyes closed and laying back against Luca's bed, while the latter sits on the floor and thumbs through the pages of a large hardback book, not looking at the words but at the older teen behind him. He can tell when Spada's tensed up by now (even a year or so away from each other hadn't harmed anything) and when he doesn't answer Luca shuts his book quietly and turns to face him, folding his arms on the bed and laying his cheek on them, watching the calm façade. Luca's a patient boy; he won't push the question, and he knows Spada's thankful for the time to get an answer and make it good.
“I got a few girls I've been wooin'. Why?” Spada opens an eye and looks at him, a smirk starting to stretch across his lips; Luca smiles back tentatively, closing his eyes.
“No reason. I was just curious.” He feels the bed shift under displaced weight and hears the soft creak of springs as Spada turns towards him, scooting down a little until they're face to face. That leaves Spada's legs hanging over his footboard, but he doesn't seem to mind, not while he can get in Luca's face and grin when the latter opens his eyes again and jumps a little despite knowing he's there.
“You sure it ain't somethin' else?” And Luca freezes a little, wonders if he and Spada have the same thought and knowing they're completely different; he relaxes after a moment, leaning forward to pressing their foreheads together and shaking his head.
“No, that wasn't the only reason. You said you had a girlfriend once, right?” Luca sees a flash of something in Spada's eyes before he turns them away, somewhere past Luca's shoulder and out the window; it doesn't deter him in the slightest. “Do you have any plans for another?”
“Nah,” and Spada sounds a little distant, “I think I'm good with what I got. Who needs a chick when I got you to nag me, right?”
Luca leans away and frowns, curling his fingers into his sheets indignantly. “I don't nag you!”
“Yeah, you do.” The familiar teasing tone and playful grin are back in action, and it breathes a new life into the stale air that perpetuated the room before. “Spada, pay attention and Spada, don't do that and Spada, please don't call my mother hot. Long as I got you, I don't think I ever gotta get married.”
Luca lets the subject change slide for now; knowing each other two years isn't reason enough to know every detail, and he prefers the mischievous side (married couple jokes aside) to the frowning, distant one.
