They say Alistair is unfit to be king; that he could not rule or lead, that he would be better off following the Grey Wardens. They are, to put it simply, wrong. Elissa knows this as she has known Highever all her life; she knows this because he leads her to bed, and he leads her through the inexperienced motions and touches, despite being the same as she. She knows this because he has tamed what her brother once referred to as the Cousland Lioness, a ferocious beast, ambitious, and a spitfire. He takes her hand and smiles - Maker, how she loves that smile - and she knows (believes with all her heart) that Alistair will be the best King of all Ferelden.
And that she will be by his side.
