Title: commandeering
Characters: Reitz I, Rovsico
Rating: PG
For the prompt 'notorious'... though to be fair, I think it leans more towards 'intoxication'.
Even amongst the prisoners, Reitz is notorious. He's the one strong enough - or maybe feared enough - take be the leader of a band of thieves (or of prisoners on a ship heading to their death, come hell or high water, even if the handcuffs were off now) and Rovisco knows it's a lot like keeping a wild animal and treating it like a pet.
But he can't help it; the man is likable. He's easy to laugh with, easy to talk to, and though he teases and taunts about how Rovisco runs his ship, or his plans and ideas, he's got a good heart. That's why Rovisco's able to sit with him on the deck like old friends, glasses of gin and rum between their fingers and breathing the crisp, salty air. That's why he's able to lean back against the railing of the ship, smile against his glass of gin before he drinks it, and why he's able to flush and choke on it when Reitz asks if he's being coy with him. Reitz laughs, corners him against the rail, and presses their foreheads together. The bitter smell of alcohol mixes with the air and it's suddenly, entirely too hot for the cool night. Rovisco licks his lips, and Reitz captures them, just as he's captured the attentions of the captain in the first place. Commanding, easy, gentle, rough; Reitz knows when to be what, and it shows. Rovisco's not one to just take something like this; he returns it, not as feverishly as Reitz had sought to kiss him before, and they drink each other's alcohol; intoxicating, actually, warmth sitting in his stomach and not all of it from gin and rum. Reitz breaks it slowly, almost reluctantly, then grins and trails his hand down Rovisco's side.
"I knew I was a wanted man, Captain, but I didn't think you'd be the one putting up the notice."
Rovisco chokes on air, and Reitz laughs his ass off back to his room.
