Title: Princes and Princesses
Characters: Eco, Belca
Rating: G
I'd call this one spoilery, but there's not much to go on to call it that.
Eco's head is warm in his lap; the fire in front of them is warm too, but it isn't what grabs his attention first. He brushes his fingers through the ash-blond hair, half to reassure himself that yes, the bard was here and alive (albeit a little sick), and half because it made him smile in his sleep. Violet eyes flutter open, and for once, Belca doesn't stop what he's doing.
"Hey, Sleeping Beauty. Glad to see you're up."
"Mm..."
Eco yawns, shakes his head, and blinks blearily.
"...Sleeping Beauty?"
Belca watches the fire instead of the eyes on him, fingers pausing in their strokes.
"It's a fairy tale. She was a beautiful young princess who pricked her finger on a spinning wheel and fell asleep for a hundred years."
Eco shifts slightly and tugs the front of his shirt; Belca glances down and tilts his head slightly.
"What?"
"Did she wake up?"
"Hold on, I'm getting to that."
He pauses to recollect himself and the story, then continues,
"One day, a prince came along. He fell in love with the sleeping princess and, when he kissed her, she awoke."
Eco makes a thoughtful sound - probably thinking on how he would change it if he were in the story, Belca decides - and curls his fingers into Belca's shirt, until his cold nails are pressing against his chest.
"Does that make you my prince?"
"I didn't kiss you!"
The bard smiles anyways and tugs his shirt lightly; Belca has a feeling he knows what's coming, but he leans down anyways. His suspicions are proven right when chapped lisp brush past his and Eco lays his head back down. He's asleep by the time Belca recovers from the chaste kiss, and the prince is growing exceedingly thankful for the dim light.
