Title: Carriage Rides Are Like Cabbages
Characters: Eco, Belca
Rating: G
I need to stop writing these two and work on other voices.
The extra playing had paid off; Eco's fingers hurt from tempo and time, but it was well-worth it to see Belca snoozing in the carriage with a stack of skewers by his side. The prince is definitely cuter than he remembers - watching over him after he found him in the forest was more of a sense of duty and curiosity at his survival - and Eco sighs, leaning his cheek upon his hand to turn his attention out the window. They pass over a rock and he hears Belca stir from the rough bump, but he doesn't move to address it. Goosebumps shiver down his spine; when he turns, he finds Belca staring at him. A beat, and then:
"Do I have something on my face?"
Belca snaps back to reality and scowls.
('Not a surprise,' Eco thinks)
"I know I'm cute, Belca, but you don't have to stare~"
"I wasn't looking at you! You just-- you're in the way of the window."
Eco fights a losing battle against laughter (bits and pieces of it escape), and Belca gives a small 'hmph' and turns away. As soon as the bubbles in his chest subside, Eco spiders his fingers across the seat.
"Then why'd you jump?"
"I was-- thinking. That's all."
Eco makes a sound of approval (Belca could stand to do more thinking) and goes back to looking out the window. Not a minute later the prickling sensation of being watched picks up again, and he turns his head slightly, just enough to reveal a knowing smile. He hears a huff and a quiet complaint of being hungry; but as soon as he looks back, Belca's sound asleep, breathing even and turned towards him.
