Title: One-Thousand
Characters: Emil -> Marta

A short drabble for consolation. Based on the Good Ending. A lilac is a symbol of 'first love'.
He sits against the gravestone and twists the lilac in his hands, eyes closed and head tilted back against the sun-warmed stone in thought. One-thousand years, and still this stone stood – he almost couldn't believe it.
'Actually,' Emil admits to himself, 'I still can't believe it.'
He turns and presses his cheek to the name engraved on it, smiling slightly when he feels the smooth groove of words against the corner of his mouth. One-thousand years, and his feelings for her hadn't changed at all. He stands, brushing his fingertips through the grass, up and around the top of the gravestone, then presses a kiss to the lilac and lays the light flower against it.
It may have been the first time he's done it, but it isn't the last; every day he returns to the grave with another lilac, replaces the withered ones and kisses the name: Marta Lualdi.
