Title: steady, steady
Characters: The Kid, Zia
Rating: G
138/365.
He’s not shy, but he can never bring himself to ask her to sing a few songs. He stays on the outskirts of her tent, busying himself with the Lost and Found just behind it, and listens to her pluck the strings on her harp. They sound sad, but not hollow; full, but not vibrant, and he wonders if she’s thinking of her father.
He takes a step over to her — two, three, until he’s by her side, watching her slender hands (paler and smaller than this - almost as delicate as Zulf’s, but not quite) caress the wooden instrument in her arms. They stay like that - quiet, unmoving, one too shy to speak (or maybe too afraid; the last Caelondian she had known, after all, had broken her heart, as much as she’d seen that the Kid wouldn’t dare) and the other not knowing what to say.
He leaves, after a while, wishing her a good night and getting a few notes in return.
