"Look at what I got t'day, Hermana!"
Hermana looks up from darning a pair of socks to see a thick, brown book being shoved into her face. She frowns a little, taking it from her youngest charge and setting the socks she'd been working on on a nearby table.
"Now, where'd ya get somethin' like this?"
"I found it on th'ground! Promise! I didn't steal it or nothin'!"
"And ya don't think there might be some lonely little bookworm this here book belongs ta? Maybe it slipped outta his bag or somethin'."
"Then he woulda picked it up! C'mon, will ya read me a little?"
Hermana nods and opens the book; she can't read the words but she can tell a story from the pictures just as well.
