Title: troubles
Characters: Spada Belforma, Luca Milda
Rating: G

19/365. Spoils for Kelm.

Luca's awake but not quite healed after Kelm; the first few days he lets Ange help him put on fresh bandages and poultices, but after that he does it himself, carefully managing it with the help of a mirror. Spada tries not to look too hard (tries not to see how white his face becomes when he as to do it, has to stretch and hurt; tries not to see how relieved he looks once he's done them and bite his lip in anticipation of the next time he has to) and it's a lot easier to regale Luca while he does it; it's a lot easier to watch the ship's ceiling and tell him about the fun they had and listen to him hum in response. The hot springs, he says, were the best part. Luca shrugs and makes a noncommittal sound, winces when he stretches a little too much and manages to throw a smile over his shoulder when Spada looks at him.

Sounds fun, is his reply, and Spada lays his head back down, folding his arms over his eyes and thinking about it. It had been pretty quiet in the hot springs; because you weren't there to make fun of is his given reason (and it makes Luca laugh a little, albeit a little nervously) and the real one (one he won't admit to himself, either – one that's far too sappy for his liking, especially when it's about Luca of all people) he doesn't say anything about.

(They had all been worried sick – him and Iria most of all, although he was infinitely better at hiding it than her – and it's a little hard to enjoy yourself when your best friend's just across the way and could be dying, for all you know, as much as the experts of your group tell you that he'll be fine, just resting.

It's really hard to enjoy yourself like that.)

It's not like Luca's any wiser either; even though a part of him thinks that them all having fun without him is silly, that they didn't have a boatload like it sounds they did, most of him accepts it and sighs about it. And it's better that way, too; better for Luca to think that they weren't worried at all and knew he'd be fine rather than have him find out they were worried the whole time and didn't get a wink of fun done. He'd probably be more upset about the latter; Luca hates to cause trouble for people, even though that's what gets him into trouble most of the time, and while it isn't respectable by any means Spada doesn't see a reason to change it.
